Yaverland Coastal Defence Scheme questionnaire

Overview

The Yaverland Coastal Defence Scheme is seeking to create a sustainable future for the coastal frontage between Yaverland and Sandown for current and new generations to enjoy. The Environment Agency is focussing on the area between Yaverland car park and the junction of Crescent Road and Culver Parade near the OYO Marina Hotel.

The Environment Agency, in partnership with the Isle of Wight Council, is planning to refurbish existing coastal defences to reduce the impact of coastal flooding and coastal erosion.

We will be seeking public opinion as the project progresses and to mark the start of that process, we have launched an online questionnaire which you can access via the link at the bottom of this page. Your feedback will help inform the project as it moves forward.

Why your views matter

This is an opportunity for you to share what you most value about the Yaverland Coastal Frontage, share any concerns you have or ideas for improvement that we could consider as we develop our options.

We encourage you to submit your response to the questionnaire online, which will enable us to manage your comments more effectively. It will also help us to gather and summarise responses quickly, accurately and cost effectively.

If you respond online and provide an email address, your response will be automatically acknowledged and you will receive a receipt.  

Paper copies can also be requested by contacting us at IOW_FDschemes@environment-agency.gov.uk. Copies are also available at Sandown Library. The library is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 5pm. Please return completed questionnaires to Sandown Library.

The questionnaire will close at 11:59pm on 31 August 2022.
