Ponteland Flood Alleviation Scheme September 2019 Consultation

Closed 21 Oct 2019

Opened 16 Sep 2019

Results expected 19 Nov 2019

Feedback expected 13 Jan 2020

Overview

To date we have sought information and considered a range of options to reduce flood risk in Ponteland. We held an event and online consultation in January 2019, and published data and responses to comments we received online.

The initial assessment and appraisal looked at a wider area of Ponteland, but following our economics, modelling and structural assessment, we are now focusing on a smaller area in the town centre.

We have a preferred option of replacing assets on the southern bank of the River Pont between the Memorial Hall and the Callerton Burn pumping station. We are consulting on this preferred option and would welcome your thoughts.

Responding to this consultation

Information is provided throughout the online tool which you access by clicking on the Respond online link below. The consultation document, supporting information and response form are listed in the Related section at the bottom of this page. Should you experience any difficulties accessing the documents please email Kirsty Harwood at enquiries@environment-agency.gov.uk.

Why We Are Consulting

This is your opportunity to share your views on the preferred option for reducing flood risk in Ponteland.

What Happens Next

Throughout the consultation we will look to make all comments (excluding personal information) publicly available on the Environment Agency’s online consultation portal. This includes comments received online, by email, and by post, unless you have specifically requested that we keep your response confidential. We will not publish names of individuals who respond, but we will publish the name of the organisation for those responses made on behalf of organisations.

If you respond online or provide us with an email address, we will acknowledge your response. After the consultation has closed a summary of the responses will be published on our website. We will contact you to let you know when this is available. We will also notify you of any forthcoming consultations unless you tell us otherwise.

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, we may be required to publish your response to this consultation, but will not include any personal information. If you have requested your response to be kept confidential, we may still be required to provide a summary of it.
