Introduction: Yarm has a long history of flooding, dating back as early as 1771, when Yarm High Street flooded to a depth of 2 metres. In 1993, the original Yarm flood alleviation scheme was completed. This scheme involved the construction of flood walls and flood gates to protect Yarm from the River Tees. Unfortunately, in 1995, these new flood defences were overtopped, and Yarm suffered flooding from the River Tees (see photo below). Additional works which built on... MoreCloses 31 July 2025 -

The Lydd Ranges frontage extends from Jury’s Gap near Camber in East Sussex and extends eastwards for approximately 8.2km to Dungeness nuclear power station, Kent. The Folkestone to Cliff End Strategy (FoCES) reports 600 properties at risk of flooding from a 0.5% AEP event by 2108. 30 properties would be immediately at-risk, post breach (failure) of the defences. The Lydd Ranges and infrastructure would also be at risk. The site is a premier live firing... MoreCloses 23 July 2025 -
