Canal and River Trust 21931 Hydro-Electric Power Production Consultation

Overview

We are seeking your comments on an application received from Canal and River Trust.                                       

The Canal & River Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence. The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Trent and Mersey Canal at Anderton Boat Lift, Lift Lane, Northwich, NGR SJ 64778 75355.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

• 864 cubic metres an hour
• 20,736 cubic metres a day
• 7,568,640 cubic metres a year
• All year

 The water will be used for hydroelectric power generation.
