Noise and odour from the site will affect the neighbouring residents; new housing is planned very close to the EKR plant. Where is the new housing development shown on the site plan submitted by EKR? The proximity to the site of an SSSI, a SPA and RAMSAR area. Why are areas designated as such if industry processes are allowed to take place in the open air right next to them? Noise and dust already emanates for the site disturbing residents, wildlife and the Saxon Shore Way - the new plant and equipment is likely to be much noisier and I believe an enforceable decibel limit should be included in any permit granted. Many local householders have reported seeing discolouration in the lagoon into which the East Kent Recycling plant discharges water. Who is monitoring this? How much supervision and inspection will the Environment Agency realistically be able regularly to undertake thus ensuring compliance with any permit issued? I note that the number of tonnes per annum is restricted. However where is the restriction on the number of vehicle movements per day?
