Our particular concern is in relation to the impact on wildlife. Walking the Saxon Shore Way is a pleasure that is already being spoiled by the amount of traffic on that part of the route. It is an internationally famous wetland and nature site on a known flood plain and is therefore not an appropriate place for commercial waste which includes asbestos, clinical waste and oils. The sea wall is being eroded by passing vehicles and we frequently have to squeeze ourselves close to the edge to allow a vehicle to pass. The increased size and number of HGVs passing through Faversham is also of great concern. The air quality in Ospringe is already bad. We can see first hand the impact on the listed buildings in town that these lorries have with cracks in the walls and damage to the roads especially the brick surfaces in West Street. The skip lorries particularly have poor suspension and shake the houses as they pass. We are all for proper waste management but this location is unsuitable. It is too close to the town centre which has too many listed buildings and ancient monuments and with the increase in new houses particularly in Oare/Davington can only make the situation worse. This industrial activity should be carried out on a designated and purpose built inland industrial site.
