Overview

The Boston Barrier is part of a phased approach to reduce the risk of tidal flooding to over approximately 14,300 properties in Boston over the next 100 years.

Orders under the Transport and Works Act 1992 (the TWA) can authorise guided transport schemes and certain infrastructure projects in England and Wales.

The Environment Agency (“the Agency”) of Kingfisher House, Goldhay Way, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire PE2 5ZR is applying to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for the Boston Barrier Order to be made under sections 3(1)(b) and 5 of that Act.

Putting the scheme into practice could mean implementing changes that would affect people in the local area. Because of this, applications for TWA orders have to follow a set procedure which allows people to give their views on the proposals.

More information about the application can be found here.
